When I was looking for rental space locally it was nearly impossible to find! We actually had to go through a place that was located miles from my work and was a total pain to tote all of our storage there on a weekly basis.
As an investor I think it might be a good idea to purchase land in upstate New York and invest in steel buildings. You could build them around the college towns too.
Typically, the students that go to Cornell and Ithaca College are always looking for storage because they don't have a place to go for the summer. So instead of toting all of their belongings back and forth they look to put it all in storage for a few months.
With that alone I think you could make some good money...but then there's households like ours who have a house that's too small and we're busting out at the seams!
