Went with Mommy!

Today I decided to head out on the road with Margot. Grammy and me got into the car and went to Perinton. Margot had a 2:00 meeting. Grammy and me hung out at the mall today.

We bought a lot of stuff on sale and even purchased a few shirts for Margot!

Help is on the way!

There are so many drug rehabilitation centers out there and many time people have a hard time finding the right one.

Of course, this can also be an excuse people use to seek treatment too.

One service that is offered that helps people find the perfect rehab is offered through: DrugRehabilitationNetwork.com.

They offer evaluations free of charge and you can even contact their 1-800 number for information and assistance.

Protect your family!

We are constantly looking into getting more and more life insurance. Especially, with Margot being the sole bread winner these past few years. If something happened to her we want to make sure that Grammy and myself are taken care of.

The last time we tried to get life insurance they sent someone to the house and then once Margot said she had asthma which has always been controlled with allergy medication - we were doomed!

When we got the policy and price per month our eyes just about fell out of our head! It was double what it was before with the same type of coverage.

Now we're going to check out America Direct. They offer affordable term life insurance rates.

You can get a quote online or you can even call their 1-800 number and speak with a trained professional who can go over an application with you.

Finally, an insurance company that takes health seriously and will give you an answer within minutes and not weeks!

Marketing meeting.

Today I met with one of my old friends in the healthcare industry. We talked about what's going on with the residents and we also talked a little bit about healthcare in general.

It was great to get some information from her about the industry and to stay in touch over the years.

We also talked about the crisis that we're seeing with the local nursing homes in the area. Supposedly, Gov. Elliot Spitzer wants to close down one of the nursing homes and her understanding is that they have to reopen under a different license.

I ran into the admissions coordinator a week ago or so and she said that basically what will happen is that they will close as one entity and open as another. They will remain the exact same except they might have to change the name.

Of course, I'm not sure if that means that they have to change the management or if that can stay the same.

Moving?

When we were moving cross country we had the hardest time trying to find a way to move our belongings, pets, and cars cross country.

In the end it managed to be too big of an ordeal for us and despite us having jobs we decided it would be in our best interest to stay put instead of moving to San Francisco.

Had we know about http://www.topmovingcompanies.com it would have made the move much more do-able!

TopMovingCompanies.com offers a one-stop-shop website. You can literally go on the website and fill out a form and within minutes have an email of movers, rental space, and even car transporters who want to work with you!

The website is easy to use and I like the drop down menu that allows you to choose what service you need.

I will be passing this useful website to my friend, Jen, who will be moving to Atlanta in the next few weeks.

My aching body!

Years ago I injured my back at work. Over the past two years I've undergone physical therapy, pain management medications, acupuncture, and tons of doctor's appointments.

A few weeks I woke up in the middle of the night and had Margot put some cream on my back. The stuff must have been over 100 years old because it was so hot I started crying and had to run to the shower to get it to wash off of my back!

Just the other day I received a free sample of Freeze It. Initially, I was skeptical cause the death agent I used before I was in a small sample container too!

But after applying the cream to my aching back I felt relief instantly! It wasn't oily or sticky and it didn't smell toxic either!

Within minutes I felt instant relief without feeling the burning of my back! I figured the other stuff worked by making you feel a different pain which distracted you from your initial pain!

Freeze It comes in either a tube or a roll on tube. I think the roll on tube would be perfect so that I could actually apply the product to my lower back.

Here's a picture of me with one of my beautiful sample packs:

After looking at the ingredients I was happy to see that they were all natural and didn't contain anything dangerous either topically or ingested by mouth.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

Yesterday I was able to get tons of work done and even get some writing done on marketing. I haven't been very active in marketing lately because I feel like I'm constantly trying to do other things to keep the household and blogging work moving forward.

At some point when things slow down I should actually get out there and market my consulting business.

The reality is...one hour of consulting is one day of blogging and other misc. work!

Are you secure?

One thing that we've always been aware of even when we are at home is that we always want to make sure that our information is protected from the outside world and they aren't able to see our important documents by sitting outside of our house with a laptop!

Businesses obviously have a bigger burden because they have highly sensitive information and also the need to keep the information secure. Now with packetshaper you can make sure that all of your information is encripted so that the information is useless to the outside world.

Right now BestNetworkSecurity.com is offering a free 30 day trial where you or your business can check out their programs that provide a secure solution to your private information.

Make sure you are secure before it's too late. It could cost your business thousands!

A nice table.

When I was in healthcare we were constantly looking for good meeting areas with conference tables. You would be surprised how hard that is to find in a small town in upstate New York!

Margot's work actually has a great conference room with a long table that is perfect for meeting. Years ago when they were in the old office they used to have to stand for their morning meetings because there was absolutely no room.

Wow...things have changed! Now, I stay home with the baby and Margot has a great new office with tons of walking and sitting space!

Get me out of here.

Lately, with all of the infertility treatments and traveling back and forth to doctor's offices I really feel the need more than ever to get out of town.

I've had my eye on Virginia bed and breakfast. Virginia isn't too far from here and it'd be great to take a nice little weekend get away to just focus on the two of us. Read: NO KIDS.

Our eleven year anniversary is coming up soon and it would be great to have something nice planned. Of course, we'll have to figure out all of that after we get back from the family reunion in the next few weeks.

Need to make a certain amount?

Each month we've budgeted a certain amount of money for us to make in order to live the lifestyle that we currently live. What that means of course is that I must meet a certain quota from my dear partner!

Of course, if I don't meet it...I don't get in trouble or anything. Typically, it just means a few less eat outs!

Now there's a great way to help with making money and budgeting for your future. Vending Machines have been around forever and now there's a new kid on the block called - multivend.

Multivend allows you to set the cost on your vending machine and it actually helps you with the accounting aspect of vending.

It can make having vending machines a lot easier and even fun! BeTheBoss.com is a great website that offers information about vending machines and multivend.

As a former marketing guru...

I can't stress how important market research is to your business! I have seen time and time again business throw their money to the wind because they aren't using their marketing and advertising dollars effectively.

One example, is when I had a client who was trying to reach the younger crowd - instead of going on the radio, or the entertainment guide the poor advertiser was putting all of his money in the local free "Pennysaver" that highlights used trucks and trailers!

He had no idea why noone was using his coupon for a free drink! Hmm...it's probably because he wasn't reaching the right clientele for his product.

If you plan on spending money on your marketing efforts make sure that you get help from the professionals and that you're marketing to the right clientele and hitting a good group of BUYING customers!

Got space?

When I was looking for rental space locally it was nearly impossible to find! We actually had to go through a place that was located miles from my work and was a total pain to tote all of our storage there on a weekly basis.

As an investor I think it might be a good idea to purchase land in upstate New York and invest in steel buildings. You could build them around the college towns too.

Typically, the students that go to Cornell and Ithaca College are always looking for storage because they don't have a place to go for the summer. So instead of toting all of their belongings back and forth they look to put it all in storage for a few months.

With that alone I think you could make some good money...but then there's households like ours who have a house that's too small and we're busting out at the seams!

Always looking to make a buck!

I constantly look around for good ideas and things that might be revenue makers or good investments. Typically, I sit on things and watch them grow for a while and by the time I decide to make a decision the option is already gone or it's not worth the investment!

Now, I've come across vendstar. Vendstar offers machines that provide vending. You can actually choose your own hours, how much you work, and even how much you maintain the machines!

Basically, the machines work on coins and so it's a cash operation. Your main job would be to check on the machines that you've placed throughout the area, refill the candy, gum, or nuts and collect the money that they have made.

It sounds like a pretty easy going job and really has very limited liability!

FranchiseSolutions.com offers a great website that will help you get started towards this lucritive operation in no time!

Back in the day..

we used to share Cornell Hockey tickets with our friends Kathy and Martin. We used to babysit for them on a Saturday and go to the Friday games.

Cornell was so much fun to watch and we constantly had a great time. We tried to go recently with Graem and we made it through one period! Of course, we knew that going into the game that our night wouldn't be too long!

We always keep an eye on the nhl entry draft because we like seeing if any Cornell players have been drafted.

One great website that has most up-to-date information is HockeysFuture.com. The website is easy to use and has tons of information associated with hockey. For a big hockey school like Cornell, I'm sure it's bookmarked for most of the students!

I really don't miss the good ole' days...

just the other day I was thinking back about how hard it was for me to drop my three month old baby off at a daycare lady's place only to not see her til six or seven at night.

I realize how lucky I've been over the past two years to stay with my daughter and it's been great that I've been able to make enough money to supplement my income a little bit and also keep us a float.

You have jungle fever?

When I was dating I never aimed to date someone from a different race...it just happened that way.

Interracial romance seems quite popular among a few of my friends. In fact, I have one friend who will only date black men! She has a hard time meeting men and many times has to resort to the same old guys who aren't good for her.

Now there's a great place for interracial dating.

InterracialRomance.com offers an easy to use website where you can sign up instantly, look at the great profiles, and even post your own profile.

The great part about it is that you won't have to spend an arm and a leg to get started --- the website is free of charge!

The profiles that other patrons have filled out include location, information, and also some good photos so that you have an idea of who you might be chatting with.

Back to the grind!

Tomorrow, Margot's going to drop Grammy off to school and I'm going to get back to doing my computer work. I have quite a bit built up and since I've been on bedrest over the past few days I've really put my work on the back burner.

The good thing is I can work a full day since Graem will be at daycare.

BP

Lately, I've been reading a lot about the different environmental standards that are set forth for manufacturing and oil companies. The whole idea behind the standards is to protect the environment, wildlife, and people from hazardous materials that are in the environment.

I think it's really everyone's job to make sure that we move forward in an ecological society and everyone has to do their part. We are very avid recyclers and do whatever it takes to recycle paper, cans, and other items.

The hard part of all of this is that it's a universal problem but it doesn't seem like everyone is trying to solve the problem! When I lived in Houston I had never heard of recycling. We threw absolutely everything away including cans, paper, and batteries!

BP Whiting Refinery Fact Sheet
has now been published to let people know of the different things they are doing to help with environmental issues.

A few things that the article points out are:

They are now investing three billion dollars for their Whiting refinery to get up to date and also make sure that they are meeting and exceeding all government standards.

They are also making sure that they are releasing 99.9% clean water into the environment. If there is sludge then they are releasing that through a seperate purification process that will help break down the sludge.

They are well within environmental standards and are working daily to increase their impact on the environment and the earth.

Off.

I've been taking it easy the past couple of days and just kicking back. No posting and certainly no physical work.

I figure we've spent way too much money on me trying to get pregnant for me to mess it up by stressing out over work and even having the computer on my belly!

Of course, today I'm back at the ground after 2 full days of bedrest!

I wonder ...

if I should go back and get a masters or phd. Years ago I used to say if I won the lottery that I'd go back and get an MBA or a law degree. Now getting your online phd has never been easier.

Capella University offers an extensive and impressive list of programs and you can receive a Bachlors, Masters, or Phd.

Their programs are designed with the working professional in mind. You can do the coursework when your schedule allows.

The great thing about Capella is that they are accredited and really have the attention of business and industry leaders. There are many employers out there who are sending and paying for their employees to gain extra knowledge and obtain higher degrees of education.

Of course, you also have to sign a contract with the company that you won't just gain the education on their tab and leave!

Around the corner...

I can't believe I'm less than 24 hours from actually having embryos put back in. It seems like I've waited years for this moment and it's almost here.

To say the least next week I'm going to take it easy and just sit on my ass eating bon bons.

Grammy's room.

We haven't really made Graem's room all that kid-like when it comes to commercialized bedding and kids curtains. We figure when she gets bigger she'll probably want to chose and theme and we'll follow her lead.

Of course, that's only if she chooses something other than bright pink and barbies! We won't have any of that in our house. (Just joking!)

WarmBiscuit.com offers some great kids bedding and curtains. I love the fact that they aren't commercialized and they have some awesome patterns that any little girl or boy would love!

Capella's got it going on!

Capella University is constantly in the news and they've done it again! Now one of their adjunct professors has been awarded the Fulbright Scholar Grant!

Online universities seem to be a dime a dozen these days. When looking for an online education it's important to make sure that the university is accredited and that they reputation is stellar.

A few years ago when I looked online for an MBA program I was shocked to see how much they cost! Not only that...but I had sales people that were calling morning, noon, and night to try to get me to sign up.

Talk about a major turn off?

Capella University has been in the news lately and I'm so immpressed by the stuff I've read. They are also a member of the New Media Consortium! That's where accredited universities and colleges gather and trade ideas on universities in the media!

Shielded by the light?

My father works at a manufacturing place that builds large structures for businesses. Most of the structures shield from light and the outdoors and store different things like HVAC units or computer databases.

EMI Shielding has become quite popular in the field because they are constantly trying to find devices and interfaces that disturb electromagnatic devices. The whole idea being that information can not be given outside of the building.

NEDC.com offers die cutting, waterjet cutting, CNC drilling/routing, and laser cutting. They have a great website and the best part --- it's women owned!!

Buy some time...

Years ago when we lived on one paycheck and Margot was in school we had the hardest time keeping up with our finances. Of course, partly was because we lived outside of our means...but the other part was that I was paid once every two weeks and it was hard to pay bills that came on the week that I didn't get paid.

A lot of people who are in our circumstance are using the option of a cash advance. It really just makes sense when you're just a few days shy of being able to make payments on your bills. In order to avoid late fees you can always just take out pay day loans and make the payment directly.

cashadvance-fast.com offers an easy to use website where you can apply for online credit and payday loans. The money will instantly be transferred into your checking account and you can be well on your way to paying your bills on time.

Of course, before you do anything from a financial standpoint make sure that you've done your research, read all of the fine print, and doing what makes the best sense. Sometimes if you call your creditors they will extend the deadline and you can mail the check later or pay online later.

I wish we had more money...

so that I could play around with the stock market a little bit more. At one point a few years back I put some money into the stock market and didn't do too bad. Even though the stock market was rocky and other's were losing their shirts all of my stocks were pretty stable and most of them even made money.

If you're really looking to invest these days you should invest in options trading software. When you are spending your moeny and looking for good investments it's extremely important to become educated and know all of your options.

PowerOpt.com offers a software that will let you analyze and compare stocks in order to make a wise decision.

Now they are offering a free 14 day trial period for a limited time.

Get the software!

Years ago our accountant friend set up QuickBooks on my computer for me to use for my business. It became way too confusing and time consuming and so I haven't entered anything into it an about a year!

I'm all about keeping it simple -- as if you haven't noticed!

Every business should have some kind of budgeting software to help with the day to day accounting of owning a business.

Had I been able to figure out the complex software it would have made my taxes much easier because it would have all been on the computer!

Now with Prophix you can get everything in one program to run your business, do reports, and even forecasting.

Need more memory?

Just last week Margot ordered some memory for our laptop computer. She was able to get it pretty cheap and we just made the plunge.

Because we're running Windows Vista and it takes up so much memory just to run I kept getting error messages saying we were low on memory.

IBM memory is now offered through the MemoryStore.com at an awesome price!

The website is very easy to use, they offer live chat and you can actually search directly on their website for the perfect memory for your computer.

Even someone like me who isn't computer savvy can figure out what memory I need for my laptop!

Now that's impressive!

Thick skinned?

Have you ever been told you have thick skin? Typically, that's not the best comment in the world. But it is helpful when you are talking about protecting your iPod!

We love our iPod and the few times that we thought it was going to die we worried that all of our songs would be gone!

We used to have a pink case that we got online but within months it tore and we ended up taking it off.

Now there's a new type of iPod skins that are built to last! SkinIt.com offers a great website where you can personalize your iPod skin and make it your very own! They offer durable covers that can prolong the life of your iPod for many years to come!

Credit makes the world go round!

Take it from me...the person that puts almost everything on credit card! (We pay it off monthly!)

Credit cards have always helped us in the past to pay for things and pay them off monthly. We are now getting to the point where we are about to pay off all of our credit cards and actually have money to save - this of course is a change!

I have actually thought about subscribing to a service that would allow me to accept credit cards. There are so many people out there that don't actually have cash in hand but would like to subscribe to my services.

CreditServiceSales.com offers low cost credit card online processing. In fact, they are actually an industry leader in the field and have many different options to choose from.

I'm so glad I came across this information cause before I wouldn't have even known where to start and there are so many gimmicks out there that cost so much that it doesn't even make sense to subscribe!

Subscribing to credit card services and being able to take credit cards might just be the one thing that puts my business ahead of the competitors!

There have been so many times that I have not been able to go to certain vendors because they don't take credit card. In fact, on my way to the mall this afternoon I drove by a killer garage sale and realized that I didn't even have a dollar on me. I assumed they probably didn't take credit card!

When a business is online many times if it doesn't take credit card I always question if it is a reputable business. A few months ago we tried to do a power of attorney online for Margot's family. It ended up not working and in the end it was nice to know that I could get the 1-800 from my credit card statement and call the place. Had I actually placed and appeal with the credit card company for a faulty product they would have refunded my money.

Membership has it's priviledges!

Lookin' to make a buck.

I always have my mind open to different ways to make money. Of course, I've been blogging to earn extra cash but that is pretty spontaneous and really somewhat inconsistent.

Now I've come across 9 Cycles Prosperity Site. The website is awesome and gives you information on how to be financially stable.

For $29.95 you can purchase the series and find out how to bring wealth and prosperiety to your life.

Of course, for us we'd be happy paying our our small credit card debt, infertility debt, house, and car. Then of course we'd want to pack money away in savings, retirement, and most importantly -- Graem's college fund!

I've always dreamed of having more money than I have but never known how to get it! Now there's a way that's right at my fingertips!

Plus, for the low price of $29.95 how can you go wrong?

At this point I need all of the prosperity I can get my hands on. God knows how many mouths I'll have to feed in the upcoming months!!

It got bad...

At one point a few years ago we were in some big debt. I had gone through credit counseling with a local counselor and we really worked on paying down our debt.

A few years of spending led to years of paying off!

We learned our lesson the hard way and it wasn't until last year when we were able to pay off all of our credit card debt.

Of course, we've just gotten ourselves back into debt by doing the new IVF refund program.

CreditLoan.com offers some great information that will help anyone that needs help with their finances. The website is easy to navigate and you can actually find out information about credit counseling and get ideas on how to decrease your debt.

Off for the week.

Well, it looks like I'll be busy this week with doctor's appointments. Next week they will more than likely do the embryo retrieval and transfer so I'm going to take it easy and plan on being out of commission.

Of course, there will be 3-5 days when the embryos are cooking in a petri dish that I have to goof off before they get put back in!

Got silver?

Of course, I'm not talking about just regular silver! I'm talking about colloidal silver!

I bet you are wondering what I’m talking about and at first I would have had no clue! However, I’ve been reading up on colloidal silver and its use as a potent antibiotic. From a chemical standpoint it just makes sense that it would work in a positive way without the awful side effects of antibiotics.

When we were in the Phillippines I had a terrible case of dissentary. I am guessing it was because the water is horribly polluted and as much as I tried to stay away from it I had to have ice cubes! Plus, I used it when brushing my teeth.

One morning I woke up and had the worst stomach cramps. Then the diarreah and vomitting started. Within a few minutes I went from feeling fine to feeling like I was going to die.

Margot ran out to the pharmacy and was able to find Cipro. I took two tabs and instantly I felt better. Then I continued to take the medication for the next five days.

The reality though is that I hate taking heavy duty antibiotics because I know at some point my body will become immune to the antibiotics when I really need them.

Colloidal silver is a natural antibiotic and has been known to prevent infections. I’ll try anything once!

No more breakdowns!

Of course, I'm not talking about a mental breakdown...I'm talking about appliances and devises in our house breaking down!

Right when I thought everything was in good shape our home theatre has started making weird noises and then shutting down.

It can work perfect for days at a time then out of nowhere start buzzing really loudly and shutting off.

I've always loved the way that I feel when I'm surrounded by home theater seating!

You get the luxury of being at the movie theatre but get to hang out on the couch and with alcohol!

I need something...

Lately, I've been feeling somewhat groggy and out of it. I don't know if it's the heat or maybe even the infertility drugs.

Unfortunately, I don't want to take any medication or even go to the doctor because I don't want anything to interfere.

I'm glad I came across information for HGH. HGH is a homeopatchic spray that will actually have you feeling and looking younger.

Sytropin.com has some great information about the product and it seems like just what I need to get things going and helping me feel better.

Cruisin' for a bruisin'.

Lately, I've been pretty lax about work because I never seem to have enough time. It seems like when I'm suppose to be blogging I'm typically watching Graem or trying to spend time outdoors in the great weather.

It's nice to finally be able to hang out and get some work done without having little G right over my shoulder!

Cars.

All I can say about cars it that I pray that nothing happens to ours. At one point in our life we used to enjoy having great and fun cars. Now, of course we just realize that they are a mode of transportation that gets us from point A to point B.

Our friends L&L have a minivan which I've been drooling over and a Ford Taurus. I'm glad to hear that they have not had to purchase a Taurus Radiator because I've heard through the grapevine that those can be pretty costly.

If they ever have to buy a radiator I'll for the car I'll have to direct them to radiator.com. They offer a huge selection of radiators at great prices.

The website is easy to use and order from and they even have a 1-800 number if you have questions!

Sales.

Many years ago I was an Account Executive at the local newspaper. I had a great time and the first year I did pretty good financially.

THe way that the sales system was set up is that the first year you work and you basically set a goal for yourself for the next year. What that meant for me is that I constantly had to try and do better each year. When you're talking about 20% or 30% increase over the previous year it becomes somewhat unobtainable.

The reality is...I liked doing sells. I sold advertising to the local vendors. I was able to meet some nice people, help market local business, and was out of the office most of the day visiting clients.

I've been werkin' on the ...

computer! All the live long day.

Good thing I'm working from home in the comfort of my cozy laz-y-boy recliner with my diet pepsi and the air conditioning on!

Graem is at school today and I've been busy with running errands and trying to get everything take care of before the weekend.

We don't have much planned other than some geocaching fun!

Get the 411.

After graduating with a bachelors I think many of us think that we're done education. But the reality is...we shouldn't be!

Living in Ithaca every one has a bachelors degree. There a dime a dozen. That's why I've started looking at .online school to get a masters of business administration.

DirectoryOfSchools.com is a great website that does all of the research and shopping for you! You can go there and it has a listing of all of the online schools and you can take a look at the programs they offer.

The website is easy to use and you can go directly to the school of your choices website directly through theirs.

If you're debating going back to school don't put it off any longer. It's easy, fun, and who knows, you might even learn something!

Always lookin'...

for ways to make our kid smarter than she already is! When I'm home with her I make sure that at least once a week we have learning day where we go over our alphabet, spelling, and numbers.

I think she'd do really good with an innovative tutor to help her along.

Score Learning Centers offer kids ages 4-14 tutoring and even have summer camps that help kids get the skills they need to be successful in school.

What a great 4th of July!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at our friend Diane's house. We were hoping to get into the pool for a little swim time but it was thundering and lightening.

We were also able to hit a few geocaching spots on the way. We've become quite obsessed now with geocaching and we're having some great family time doing it!

Getting the best...

bang for the buck! That is what I am constantly trying to do. Ever since I resigned from my high stress and high pay job we have been trying to save money and conserve our resources.

In the next few years or so I will be looking to get back into the work force and I know that I am going to have to wipe off the dust on my old books and re-learn some things.

What a better way to do that than to go through an online degree program at Capella University!

They offer almost every type of program anyone could imagine. They are credible, and work around your schedule when it comes to getting the credits that you need.

It'd be great to get my MBA while staying home with the kids!

Before long...

Graem is going to be reading big books! Last week when I took her to the library she was pretending to read the books. I'm pretty sure she got the information from the pictures but she sounded pretty good!

The key for us is to keep her challenged and maybe even hire reading tutors to help her along.

Score Learning Centers offers some great tutors and programs for kids ages 4-14 who want to get ahead in school!

A trade off?

A few days ago I went to my acupuncturist to get some pricks. I was trying everything to get my period. Go figure, three days later I ended up getting it!

While I was there the Acupuncturist, Jin, asked what I did. I told her and then she asked for my help after the session.

Basically, I helped her upload some of her photos to her computer. After I was done she ended up giving me free herbs!

Not too bad considering I was planning on buying the herbs and didn't expect anything in return!

Smarty pants!

Our friend lives in Dallas and she was telling us the other day of the great program she had enrolled her daughter in. The program is through Score Learning Centers and is offered for kids 4-14 years old.

She is also taking advantage of math tutors that are offered from Score Learning Centers since her daughter is struggling with math in school.

I wish we had a Score Learning Center close to us so that we could get some extra learning in before Graem starts school!

Holiday!

Tomorrow is July 4th and just so happens to be the day that Graem is out of daycare and Margot's off of work! Of course, I was also planning on heading out and doing some marketing.

This might be one of the last weeks that I'm not at doctor's appointments every other day!
